Training sia...

Check out that beautiful form and those muscles man. When will I ever be like that??

Decided to join Meng and coach for badminton training yest. Was fantastic if not for the minor bout of wanting to puke. So malu sia. Stamina is prob at an all time low since I dont get much cardio exercise these days. That, and old age haha (i can juz imagine Meng rolling his eyes at e 'old' comment). But it's a fact la.. knee aches and whatnot. Even if the external packaging still looks fine. :p

Anyway, I haven't gone for any such training in a long time... and I must say that it has somewhat inspired me. To improve at something that I really like. To get the footwork right and shots more accurate. What really makes it better is having great kaki who enjoy it as much (or more) as me. There's nothing more satisfying than having a good game (with a few good laughs thrown in too). Maybe all tts lacking now is a competition to work towards. haha. I think meeting a coach who genuinely seemed to enjoy nurturing young pple in the sport was also inspiring. Wonder when I will be able to do sthg as meaningful with my life.

Training started at 10 and was supposed to be 2 hrs only.. but cos no one else booked the courts we ended up staying till past 1! (The down side to this is that it means no more sleeping in on sat mornings :/) Was super exhausted after tt but still managed to drag myself out of the house to meet Lydia to practice the songs for Sabrina's wedding. Another fun session - altho it was a little stressful trying to transpose the chords (again!) haha. I think such sessions are good cos playing with other pple gives u more experience for performances. Dinner after was also fun and we had dessert, twice! Before I had to rush home to send parents to the airport.

They're off to Europe again. Sigh... how lucky. But I shan't complain la. I was in Europe earlier this yr too. Just need to rewrite some memories tts all. Heh. In the meantime, I get to use the car woohoo! Freedom!! Not sure if I've said this before, but I really enjoy driving alone. To me, it's very liberating to know where you're going, cocooned by the car, alone with your thoughts and good music. Ah well. 10 whole days of that. Yess!!

Hope u guys had a good weekend too. Back to the daily grind tmw... but tt also means the next weekend is coming up! Exciting times!

Grumps

I think I still stick to my guns that appearing too approachable really does u no good. The theory, according to the old man, is to let the pleasant side come through without constantly brandishing the parang. My arse.

Idiots. Too many of them. Gaaaah.

Totally didn't get that? Too bad! Heh.

In other news..

Lunch at the polo club today with Carol and Freda was so nice. The greenery really makes all the diff btw a normal lunch and an escape in the middle of the day.

Feels like I need to go away again. Haha. Ok... it's more of a want la. Was just musing that even though my last 2 trips, were to great destinations, with gorgeous scenery and all... it was just missing the right company. I miss Hong Kong, Hanoi... and New Zealand. (Weilin! Do u realise u feature in 2 out of 3?? haha)

Yup! And lastly, just wanted to share a song tt I hadn't heard in a long time.. but did just now cos my bro was playing it on his com. 分裂 by Jay Chou. This song is so emo Ah Beng (and tts y I love it), cos of the riding away on motorcycle thing. Ah, if only one day, a 周杰伦 would ask me to 坐着我的摩托车, 载你缓缓的离开... :p

Here are the lyrics and translation if anyone's interested..

Lousy Day

Had such a big piece of shit fall on me today. Super sian. All I wanna do is to play badminton. Haha.

Anyway, Chris sent us the link to some of the photos he took during our trip in Perth. And this one made me laugh. Someone used to be rather amused by my "wtf u want" kinda expressions. And I still make them rather often. Wonder when the next person who will appreciate such "intense" looks will come along? Haha.

Oh, and Meng was saying tt I shld intimidate my opponents with a fierce 眼神 tmw. I shall try :p

In A Rush!!

The weekend is over already?! Still got work to do leh!! But anyway, decided that I'd do a quickie post of some activities tt happened over the past few weeks.

1) B'day tea pics!
Yup, so this was like the main highlight of my bday la. Altho I did the usual endorphin inducing stuff like playing badminton. Also got my new spec-ky accessories of which my chio chio sunglasses were extremely useful in Perth! super happiness!

So yup the original TWG at Raffles Place. It's like my escape from the world... which is a little ironic, given tt it's kinda in the middle of the CBD. But I suppose in a strange way, being able to not be at work in the middle of the day and have tea in the most tai tai fashion, is a kind of escape la.

And of cos, the tea and food. Shiok array of finger sandwiches, and scones!! I am such a tea and scone freak man. can eat it almost every day. With cream! Pity I didn't manage to have much in Perth. :(

2) 中秋节 - or, as renamed by us on sat: 灯笼月饼节
Major endorphin inducing day. Despite the fact that my plans to sleep late were kinda disrupted by a) the enthusiasm for badminton and b) Mcdonald's brekkie... we had a fantastic time at T3 taking silly pics, then rushing down to hougang mall for a damn good game. :D

Then rushed back home to meet Lydia and Steven for our 'jamming session' (maciam we damn gd and all) - actually it was more of just a play and sing session. It was fun playing with Lydia again, but Meng really stole the show. (Meng - u is zai ok! The next John Mayer!! :p) We sent Steven out to take cab, played with lanterns on the way (i haven't done tt in like dunno how many yrs), had dinner, (sibling's) bday cake, moon cakes, then rushed down to Cathay for late night movie. After tt still got energy go eat 豆花 at Yonghe in Geylang. Of which I was pretty damn proud of finding the right lorong on the first try! haha.

Rush like siao the whole day sia! But at least it was a gd kinda rush... to doing stuff tt was fun.

And so, I now leave u with a few of my fave pics taken at T3. Had such fun thinking of what to take (and as usual we were rushing cos our courts were waiting at Hougang!!)

This was taken at the viewing gallery - even though it looks kinda normal, we were muttering under our breath tt the guy who even tho was so kind to help us take the shot, had absolutely no clue abt incl the SQ planes in the background at all. He didn't capture anything much in the background except for the pillar! :/ Haha.. but no choice la, no one else to help us take mah.

Funny shots with the recycling bins!

And lastly, Hector trying to chat up the rather flat looking SIA stewardess. hahaha.

More pics to come the next round! No time no time!! Haven't even sorted out my Perth photos yet!

*edit - I just realised tt in the attempt to not spam u guys with huge photos, the small images are a bit blur. and not so nice to look at :( but u do realise u can click on the photo and u can then view it in all it's sharp and clear glory right! :)
