Have been on course for the past 2 days. Rather enjoyable I must say, since it was mostly an english lesson. It's gd to be reminded of all those lousy-english mistakes which one likes to make. (For some reason, more so when one enters the gahmen svc) The group was fun...mostly from my division tho, I suppose that's why.

Also went for my very first pedicure today. Cos I had time to kill while waiting for James..and got bored of walking/shopping ard. So...blew $30 on some colour for nails and some 'pampering' for the feet. Not exactly worth the money, but I think... I could get used to it. ( I'm quite fascinated by the colour tho!!) Hmm...maybe I am becoming more char bor after all??

Then went to watch Jack and the Beansprout. It was ok la. Once again I am reminded of how far removed from theatre I already am. Really don't notice a lot of things. Oh well, the price u pay. Am waiting for a mini miracle to happen in the next few weeks or so to eventually change tt. But we'll see. So anyways, the show was relatively entertaining la. Think the playwright did quite a gd job of localising the fairy tale to our context.

Ok, it's been a long day. To bed to bed...

Some random pics...

The other day went to eat dim sum at this place called "包今天". Literally translated, it means "Bao today". But it is also a pun on Justice Bao. -_- So corny right!! The dim sum was alright la, not too bad... but one thing really intrigued me when they brought it. Our tea was served in a bowl! Check it out!

Couldn't resist taking a photo of it man...and of cos had to take one of our dear Joseph drinking from it. He is so not camera shy lor! Quite sad tt this mata is going back to his normal uniformed life liao. He'll no longer be around for us to hurl abuses at, whenever we get calls from idiots.

As I said in one of my earlier posts, there are quite a few colleagues who are leaving us, either to another division, back to their department (by this we mean one of the Home Team Depts e.g. Police), or to another agency...but still within the gahmen. It's difficult, when so many pple are leaving...to feel tt sense of 'home' which I once actually felt when I first came into this dept. The pple are really nice...and Joe...is one of those obliging types, who altho can be foul mouthed and Ah-beng-like, is just deep down, quite a "好人". Everytime we have qns regarding the way the law works, he is always ready to help us. This guy, is actually an E-lang major, and he can actually spout famous quotes like nobody's business. He's our 'ang moh' resource ok. Dun pray pray. (Although, going by experience, e-lang majors dun exactly have fantastic grammar! :p) Haha. So, if you're reading this Joe, thank you, I appreciate the chao mata in you (even tho I curse and suan u like siao :p).

And this, is my new oil burner, on loan from Anderson. Check it out, it's damn chio right! Branded ok...from Lifeshop. Managed to find a nice space for it on my table, the ambience quite nice hor! :D So now I can burn the bergamot to calm me down when I damn stressed.

For some reason, today I am damn relaxed although I have 10,000 things to do. I think it's cos I drank 2 cups of earl grey, and went to play badminton. 爽!! Think tmw I shall play again. Yeah!

This is gonna be a long long post...with lotsa pics hor. So give u warning first. It was supposed to go up a lot earlier...but then no time to post.

Last last sat, at 9am I went to Changi Village to view an exercise by Home Team Eastern Sector on their Integrated Contingency Plan(ICP). Swaku mah, never see this kinda exercise live before, then stay relatively near...thought I'd go and look see abit. Plus my 老板 was gonna be there, so it seemed 'important' enough.

ICP@Changi Village

Yup, tts my 老板 - the one in white shirt. U see the SCDF guy on his left? He's narrating the story la. So we're all standing underneath this tent, at a strategic position where we can see all the drama unfolding.

So first, there's a suspicious looking car parked in the public car park, opposite Changi Village Hotel. And all of a sudden, Boom! It explodes into a cloud of thick black smoke! (They really exploded the thing btw). Because it's just opposite the hotel, the manager and all run out to see what has happened. They then send an sms alert to all the Community Emergency Response Team volunteers, and notify mata and firemen.

Very quickly, the matas arrive, and very dramatically, the pple who are in charge run across the road to the scene of the blast. (really very drama man this part! Macam like u know, CSI tt kind. Plus the manager all wearing suits somemore. And of cos, since it's an exercise, the mata take a grand total of like 1 minute to be activated -_- As if this will happen in real life)

Then the fire engine (or, Pump Ladder, as the firemen call it) is also activated (within the span of like, 90 secs) *ee-orr ee-orr ee-orr*

And the firemen gallantly put out the fire

A closer look at the men in action.

Then there was an exhibition, with volunteers from the CERT teams...check out the cute ah peh who's pretending to be one of the casualties. Didn't manage to capture the ah mah on the left. But they really looked so cute! Lying there obligingly allowing the volunteers to practice their skills of providing CPR and first aid to the 'injured'.

Then got award presentation for all those involved, pple from the community, from the impt associations, and in general pple who would be critical, in providing immediate/quick aid to any casualties. Can u spot Jayakumar? I actually got to shake his hand leh, cos he walked up to me and my colleague, and said, "where are u guys from?" Haha....ok....so at least I got to shake an impt person's hand.

And this is the bombed up car after everything had subsided. Car no is 1016...can go buy 4D (took this specially for my crazy toto/4D-buying colleague heh)

Gathering of JC class at Marche, Suntec
So after all the drama of the morning, I dropped one of my colleagues home, and headed down to suntec for my JC gathering. My fav teacher is leaving for Cairns at the end of the year, and he wanted to meet up with as many of us as he could. The pic below is a really small portion of my class...quite a few who said they were coming didn't turn up.... but oh well, it was a nice cosy size la.

I felt that it was a really nice meet up. All of us are working now, and Mr Smith (doesn't he look just like Santa? So cute and cuddly!) had so much to tell us, and we had so much to say about our current lives. He has a really good memory, so most of them were surprised that he still remembered who they were. Quite a class of chio bus I must say. Most of us look the same. Think we only heard of one person getting married... but tt one also not too sure.
That night, I went to Ivan's for dinner but (still) No pics of Adele... cos they all turned out funny :( She is growing up so fast! And is quite the parrot. She mimics the words we use real fast. Damn cute!! How I love her so!

After that, I went to St James Power Station. We only went into the rather cheena mama place called Dragonfly. It was damn crowded! And the entrance quite cheap somemore, only $15. But only one drink la. Well, the story abt having only Steven and me go is cos the original pple who were supposed to go said they tired/sick etc... and in the end, the only one we were banking on also said he wanted to go home. Since we went in first cos didn't wanna wait outside, LL have to stay on liaoz. Anyways I really wanted to have a look at the place cos it's supposedly quite a novelty. In actual fact, the place wasn't that cheena, cos they played retro when there weren't any performances. (altho the DJ was quite crap, cos like his mixes didn't really fit. so the dancing not shiok la) The performances however, were another thing. Really quite impressive man! Took this pic below to show the stage.

U can just see the crowds man. It was mainly quite an old crowd, maybe most of them late 20s to 30s? Did also spot some aunties and uncles on the dance floor man. Eee. Reminded me of Europa last time. But had some babes also la I guess.

Then I suppose the main draw for most people wld've been this skinny fella (who actually turned in my direction when he saw me taking the photo?) Sylvester (yes-I-just-cutted-my-hair) Sim. I really don't see what's the big deal about him. He has tt boy boy cutesy face tt young girls (and I guess aunties will like), but his singing was normal.. not off key, but not particularly memorable either. Kept doing this funny 小动作 (action) tt looked damn poser la. Like he's not Jay Chou, nor some rapper, so stop doing it! -_-

Actually got a few more photos and comments but I shall stop posting too many things cos KNN blogger keeps screwing up my post. All in all, dragonfly provides quite gd performances cos the dancers and costumes change with each number they perform... only thing is no place to sit. Am seriously considering signing up for the VIP membership man. UOB seems to have some promotion. Hahaha

Aaaaarrrggghhh.

Been trying to blog abt Dragonfly but then the pics keep giving me prob. Toopid blogger!!!!

Anyways, today is not a v gd day. Cos it's the last day for some of my colleagues. Also found out tt some others are thinking of leaving as well. 不好的!!! (trans - No gd one!!) Me sad.

Tuesday, November 21, 2006

So...saturday went (almost) the way I planned. Carried out all the intended tasks. However, slight hiccup occurred, cos the no. of pple intended for my last activity dropped severely. Till left only Stevensan. But anyways, it was a gd night out la. I'm not complaining...tt much anyway ;p

Took tons of photos, altho not all are gd enough to "见人". But i got no time to upload now and do a sui sui documentation. So u'll juz have to take my word for how "happening" my saturday was.

Today... had a few "ethical dilemmas" that cropped up in the orpic. And I'm not quite sure how to solve them. One of them being, most likely unsolvable :\ Shall write more abt it perhaps on LJ. Too sensitive cock to be written here liaoz. Sekali the parties involved come and hantam me ah! Hahaha.

Met Wayne and Bern for dinner today, and the company was fantastic, as usual. Such meet ups are gd for the soul... and necessary for keeping one's sanity. Alright then, looks like a bz week ahead, and more of meeting up with wonderful pple whom I haven't seen in a while. :)
